Challenges ahead for the Membership, Qualification & Education (MQ&E) Committee
19/12/2013
The Membership, Qualification & Education Committee of BINDT is looking to increase the number of committee members to assist with implementing its current strategy. The strategy includes:
- Developing appropriate benefits of membership
- Increasing the number of members gaining Engineering Council registration as Engineering Technicians, Incorporated Engineers and Chartered Engineers
- Creating flexible professional development pathways for inspection and test technicians and engineers
- Working with industry in the development of apprenticeship schemes
- Initiating the development of new education material in NDT and condition monitoring
If you would like to volunteer to assist the MQ&E Committee in reaching its aims and objectives, in the first instance contact Julie Grieve at BINDT, tel: 01604 89 3829 or email: julie.grieve@bindt.org
One of the most recent MQ&E initiatives has been the matching of PCN Level 3 with Incorporated Engineer registration requirements. This has attracted a lot of interest since it was announced in September and a number of PCN Level 3s are progressing to IEng registration through this pathway. If you want to find out more, contact Julie.
As a reminder, below is the Table showing the different PCN Level 3 routes to IEng registration.
The Table shows the different combinations of eligible PCN certification and experience for Incorporated Engineer registration. Any one of the routes (CR1 to CR15) is an acceptable pathway.
Applicants for registration as an Incorporated Engineer need to be Members of The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing. However, non-members can apply for IEng registration and Institute membership simultaneously.
Candidates whose written applications satisfy the requirements will be invited to attend a Professional Review Interview (PRI) – the final stage of the assessment process.
