IMechE Argyll Ruane positioned for a bright future with strong and stable senior leadership team

14/12/2023

Following a period of transition, non-destructive testing (NDT) and Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) training, examination and consultancy provider IMechE Argyll Ruane has introduced its dynamic new senior leadership team, with decades of combined experience and a deep understanding of the non-destructive testing and coatings industries. The team brings continuity to the business, with ambitious plans to develop IMechE Argyll Ruane’s proposition and deliver even greater value to customers and partners within the industry worldwide.

The new leadership team is headed up by Bryan Ravenshear, who became General Manager in January 2023. Bryan is
Level 3 certificated in a range of non-destructive testing specialisms and sits on several certification and testing committees. Kyle Duncan supports as Group Operations Manager, David Griffin as Chief Examiner, Sally Taylor as Commercial Finance Business Partner, Kristian Hampson has taken the role of Group Technical Manager, Dale O’Reilly is the ICorr and Business Systems Manager and Amy Schofield is the Marketing Manager.

Since its founding in 1985, IMechE Argyll Ruane has built a strong reputation as a leading provider of non-destructive testing and ICorr training, examinations and consultancy services. The leadership team is committed to maintaining these high standards, while further enhancing the business offering. “We want to be more than just a supplier of training, qualification and consultancy services; we want to be a partner to industry,” said Bryan. To that end, the new leadership team is taking a proactive approach, regularly speaking with clients to learn about their challenges and how the business can support them.

“The team is committed to consciously going above and beyond expectations,” said Kyle. “We care about the customer journey from start to finish and want every element of the interaction to be of the highest quality.” This is about actively delivering the best training possible and ensuring anyone who attends an IMechE Argyll Ruane course comes away properly trained and knowledgeable. The team also aims to be flexible, delivering courses in a way that meets their customers’ specific needs.

This focus on flexibility is also seen in IMechE Argyll Ruane’s aims for international expansion. Dale notes that the company is willing to travel and develop its global business. In recent years, the business has regularly delivered training, examinations and consultancy services in multiple countries around the world, something it plans to do more of.

Internally, the new leadership team is committed to developing the next generation of technicians. Kristian said: “We are continually investing in internal staff development programmes to ensure our team is multi-skilled. All staff, including consultants, trainers, customer services and admin staff, are encouraged to continually develop and expand their competencies.”

With an average age of under 40, the leadership team has in excess of 110 years’ experience working across different sectors in the non-destructive testing and coatings industries. Between them, the leadership team holds over 50 non-destructive testing qualifications and nine institute memberships, as well as supporting 13 key industry committees.

It is believed that this combination of youth and experience will set them in good stead. Bryan explained: “We have a broad perspective, being embedded within the industry to understand the established way of doing things, but are also creative in our approach to looking at ways of doing things differently. The leadership team is still decades away from retirement, meaning we believe the business is now very stable and has strong foundations for the future.”

With an ambitious, dynamic and customer-focused leadership team, IMechE Argyll Ruane is well placed to provide the highest quality services and develop competent inspectors for decades to come.
