Appeal from BINDT’s Composites Group

22/12/2025

Do you work in the composites industry and/or specialise in non-destructive testing (NDT) of composites? Do you want to help shape the future of NDT of composites?

The Composites Group is looking for a new Chair and Vice Chair. For the past year we have operated with only a Chair, but the current Chair is due to step down at the end of 2025 and will be leaving the industry during 2026, so is unable to continue in the role.

At the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), there were no volunteers or nominations to fill either post, so we plan to try again at the January 2026 meeting. Whether or not you are currently a member of the Composites Group, please consider whether you can stand or nominate a colleague for one of these roles. This is a good opportunity to steer the activities of the group in a direction you have an interest in and see changes in the industry as a result.

The aim of the group is broad: ‘to promote the advancement of the science and practice of NDT and condition monitoring (CM) of composite materials’, so there is plenty of scope.

Why join the Composites Group?

  1. Drive innovation in NDT

    Composites are increasingly prominent across industry sectors and the need for a standardised approach and validation of new methods and specific, relevant training continues to grow. By joining the group, you will be able to contribute to all of these things and more.

  2. Expand your professional network

    Collaborate with a diverse group of industry leaders, researchers and practitioners who share your enthusiasm for composites and NDT. Group membership offers great networking opportunities, allowing you to connect with experts and build relationships that can enrich your career.

  3. Enhance your knowledge

    Stay ahead of the curve by engaging in discussions on the latest trends, technologies and standards in composite NDT. Group members have access to a wealth of expertise and resources that can deepen your understanding, broaden your skillset and provide valuable continuing professional development (CPD).

  4. Shape industry standards and practices

    Play a pivotal role in setting benchmarks and influencing policies that guide NDT practices for composites. Your insights and contributions can make a tangible impact on the industry and you can bring your particular sector needs to the table for discussion.

  5. Give back to the NDT community

    Share your knowledge and experiences to help educate and inspire the next generation of NDT professionals. By participating in the committee’s activities, you will leave a lasting legacy in this dynamic field.

Who should join?

We welcome NDT professionals from all areas of the composites and NDT sectors, including:

  • Engineers and technicians;
  • academics and researchers;
  • industry specialists and consultants; and
  • manufacturers and suppliers of composite materials.

Whether you are an experienced technician, an academic, a service provider or a training provider, your voice matters
in shaping the future of composite NDT.
