ATH (NDT) Consultants gains BINDT Outside Agency Approval

Following a successful BINDT audit on 12 December 2011, ATH (NDT) Consultants has been approved by BINDT as an Approved Outside Agency to provide qualification of NDT personnel against EN4179 and Level 3 consultancy services.ATH (NDT) Consultants was set up in June 2010 by Level 3 Senior Consultant Tony Heaton and Business Co-ordinator Corinne Heaton. Tony has previously worked in permanent positions within the NDT industry for more than 25 years as a Responsible NDT Level 3, covering various primes such as Rolls-Royce, BAE and Pratt & Whitney.
Tony Heaton commented: “With over 25 years’ hands-on experience as an NDT Level 2 and 3, I feel we can offer companies an NDT service that will help their business, especially those who feel their NDT departments can be a constraint on their business, and to help improve production throughout using value stream mapping and other proven continuous improvement techniques, hence making life less stressful for all company personnel, from NDT inspectors to general managers.
“I see ATH (NDT) Consultants becoming not only one of the leading players within the NDT consultancy business with regards to Level 3 services, but also as an NDT testing facility for in-house and onsite NDT inspection for aerospace and general engineering, covering the NDT disciplines of PT, MT, PMI, UT, RT and visual inspection as a minimum.
“During 2012, as a quickly expanding company, we will be looking to gain more BINDT approvals, specifically to become an Accredited Training Organisation and Approved Examination Centre. To gain the BINDT Outside Agency Approval is something as a company we are extremely proud of. We have worked very hard to ensure all our procedures, documents and equipment are to the highest standards, as is obviously required to gain such a valued accreditation.”
Corinne Heaton added: “With offices situated in the aerospace hot-spot of the north west of England, ATH (NDT) Consultants already provides Level 3 services to various local aerospace companies and with three more qualified NDT consultants being trained at present we will be looking to extend our client base, not only locally but nationwide and within Europe during 2012.”
