Foerster receives DAkkS accreditation for its calibration laboratory

27/02/2025

Institut Dr Foerster GmbH & Co KG has announced that it has been granted DAkkS accreditation for its calibration laboratory. With this accreditation, Foerster has provided proof that its laboratory works in accordance with the ISO 17025 standard and consistently complies with all the requirements of this standard.

The German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) has checked and confirmed this in several audits. This makes Foerster the only solution and system provider in the field of non-destructive testing with eddy current testing devices to hold this important accreditation, it is claimed.

“With DAkkS accreditation, we can guarantee our customers the highest quality of our calibrations in the long term and clearly set ourselves apart from our competitors,” explained Dr Hans-Peter Vollmar, Head of the Calibration Laboratory at Foerster.

The accreditation enables Foerster to issue DAkkS calibration certificates for the measured variables and measurement ranges defined for accreditation that are internationally recognised, including mutual recognition by the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). These include, for example, measurements of the depth and width of crack standards as well as measurements of direct current (DC) resistance, alternating current (AC) resistance, inductance and other electrotechnical properties of coil systems. These calibrations are particularly important for industries with the highest quality requirements, such as the aviation and automotive industries, medical technology, the oil & gas industry, the process industry and power generation.

The accreditation not only allows Foerster to issue internationally recognised calibration certificates, but also strengthens its image as a leading provider of high-precision measurement solutions. “This accreditation proves the consistently high quality of our calibration activities and strengthens our position in the market,” said Dr Vollmar. “It also opens up new opportunities for us in safety-critical industries.”

In order to maintain its accreditation, the Foerster calibration laboratory undergoes regular inspections by DAkkS. In addition, employees are continuously trained and internal audits ensure compliance with the strict requirements of ISO 17025. Further measures, such as regular comparative measurements with other accredited calibration laboratories, contribute to the ongoing assurance of quality.

The company plans to further expand its accredited calibration range by including additional measurement variables. Corresponding projects are already being implemented.
