Sonovation launches new products in Bahrain

08/01/2008

Sonovation launched two new products at the 4th Middle East Non-Destructive Testing Conference and Exhibition in Bahrain in early December. This event, organised by the Saudi Arabian Section of the ASNT and the Bahrain Society of Engineers, was considered by Sonovation to be an excellent platform to introduce its ScanPlan suite of software and the exciting sampling phased array technique. The stand was manned by the Managing Director of Sonovation ME, Mr Ramzi Beidas who is based in Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

The ScanPlan software builds on more than twenty years of experience of applying the time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) method on a large variety of pressure equipment and is designed to help professionalise preparation of inspection procedures and greatly minimise the preparation time required on this task. ScanPlan assists inspection companies to produce inspection test plans as contractually required in a fast, professional and accurate manner and demonstrates to their clients the efficiency of the technique proposed. The routine can also be of great assistance to design engineers and engineering procurement companies to assist in inspection-friendly design and to validate procedures and demonstrate actual TOFD coverage.

After inputting the required weld thickness and profile data, ScanPlan offers a full TOFD solution in accordance with specifications. The software is currently set up to use the ASME Code Case 2235-9, PED CEN TS 14791, and Def Stan 02-729 part 5 requirements. Work is currently ongoing to include several key API standards.

Sonovation Chief Executive Officer Jan Verkooijen presented a paper to introduce the latest ultrasonic technique to be offered by the Sonovation Products and Systems Company. This method, initially developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, brings a new ultrasonic technique to the market place, 'Sampling Phased Array'. Sonovation has now adapted sampling phased array in its data acquisition and display equipment 'Sonovision 2'.

This method is said to offer several distinct differences from conventional phased array. Electronic copies of the paper can be requested by e-mailing info@sonovation.com

The Sonovation Group headquarters is Netherlands-based, with companies in the UK, Belgium, Germany and the Middle East.
