ESR Technology invests in state-of-the-art design data management system

ESR Technology, one of the industry's leading engineering, safety and risk management consultancies, has announced that it has invested in a new state-of-the-art design data management system in order to improve its design processes and further meet the needs of its clients.ESR Technology operates the European Space Tribology Laboratory (ESTL) which provides a range of products and services to the space industry including the design of highly specialised mechanisms for spacecraft.
The SolidWorks Enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system will enable the company to more efficiently manage the increasing volume of design data generated by its engineers. Design files are particularly difficult to track because of the complex interrelationships between them. Enterprise PDM will enable ESR Technology to manage the flow of computer aided engineering data and capture important information along the way giving easy access to up-to-date information to users.
The PDM system, supplied and configured by NT CADCAM Ltd, makes the design process completely electronic and automates a number of tasks such as the management of file access and revision control, the approval chain and the production of documents for distribution. A full audit trail is also captured and easily accessed to help maintain the highest levels of quality and compliance with demanding industry standards.
