NDT market expected to be driven forward

24/01/2011

In 2009, the NDT market experienced considerable economic uncertainty that impacted revenue growth and penetration potential, according to a report by Frost & Sullivan. Key end-user markets recovered slightly due to capital expenditure cuts and the revising of inspection budgets. “The market is expected to be driven forward by industrial development in BRIC countries, technological advances and the economies of India and China,” says the report.

With rising standards for quality and safety of critical structural components in the industrial sector, the need for effective mechanical testing, inspection and monitoring programmes has gained prominence. In the wake of an increasing number of vehicle recalls and industrial disasters, such as the BP oil spill, the need for stringent quality control programmes has been heightened, creating a wave of technology advances and design improvements.

Frost & Sullivan’s Mechanical Test Programme provides in-depth research coverage of the core areas of industrial testing, inspection and monitoring, which include:
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT)
  • Condition monitoring and services
  • Mechanical/material testing
  • Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing.
