Volunteers wanted for new Composites Group

As part of the remit of the NDT Technical Committee, BINDT is seeking volunteers for a new Composites Group to cover the inspection of composite materials across industry sectors. Its executive committee (EC) will meet four times a year, in the afternoons of the same days that the Aerospace Group EC meets. This will allow attendance at both meetings for some individuals and it will help to avoid duplication of effort; the Aerospace Group has traditionally been involved with the NDT of composites.For the first year, the Chair will be Robert Smith, President Elect of BINDT, and the Vice-Chair will be Cailean Forrester from Inspectahire, a member of BINDT's Council. BINDT's Technical Officer, John Moody, will be supporting the work of this group.
Terms of reference and objectives for the group will be established during this first year and are expected to include the promotion of improved NDT, technique validation, reference samples, the link to structural integrity and the removal of barriers to new inspection methods for composites. The activities will include discussions, events and publications aimed at improving the understanding and practice of NDT for composite materials. It will also be possible to feed into the research community any requirements for improved NDT methods or NDT of novel composite materials.To indicate your interest in joining this group, please contact john.moody@bindt.org
