BINDT showcases at Advanced Engineering 2025

06/01/2026

BINDT was delighted to exhibit at Advanced Engineering 2025, which was held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham on 29 and 30 October. The event proved highly successful, providing a valuable opportunity for BINDT to raise awareness of the Institute, what it does and how it continues to support the non-destructive testing (NDT) and wider engineering community.

Advanced Engineering is one of the UK’s leading events for manufacturing, innovation and technology, attracting professionals from across sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy and composites. This year’s exhibition welcomed a footfall upward of 9800 engineering professionals, with more than 400 exhibitors, all keen to explore the latest advances and innovations shaping the future of UK industry. For BINDT, it offered the perfect platform to connect with both existing members and those new to the world of NDT, while strengthening its visibility within the broader engineering sector.

The BINDT stand at Advanced Engineering was busy over the two days, attracting a wide range of visitors keen to learn more about its work

BINDT was represented at the event by Rebecca Mulholland, Outreach Coordinator, Patrick Boulton, Senior Technical and Certification Engineer, and Howard Garlick, Technical and Certification Engineer, along with Mike Smith, Vice President of BINDT. Together, they brought a wealth of technical knowledge, industry insight and enthusiasm to the event, engaging with visitors from all areas of engineering and NDT. Rebecca commented: “Events such as Advanced Engineering are invaluable for raising the profile of NDT and highlighting the important role our community plays in maintaining quality, safety and reliability across industry.”

Throughout the two-day event, the BINDT stand attracted a steady stream of visitors eager to learn more about the Institute’s work. Many took the opportunity to discover the benefits of BINDT membership, explore BINDT’s industry-recognised certification scheme and find out more about upcoming conferences, training and networking events. The exhibition also provided the ideal setting to have productive discussions about collaboration opportunities, including partnerships that could further promote best practice, skills development and innovation across the sector.

Howard said: “This was an outstanding exhibition, by far the most impactful I have attended for connecting with a broader audience. It was a genuine pleasure to be part of such an inspiring and far-reaching event.”

Across the two days, the team spoke with representatives from companies large and small, from established organisations already familiar with NDT, to businesses just beginning to explore how testing and inspection can enhance their manufacturing and maintenance processes. The conversations reaffirmed the importance of outreach and engagement in ensuring NDT continues to be recognised as a vital discipline underpinning modern engineering.

Mike added: “From the large number of delegates who visited the BINDT stand, it was very encouraging to see that NDT, condition monitoring and structural health monitoring are such relevant topics for so many of the new materials and manufacturing processes on display at Advanced Engineering.”

Patrick concluded: “For the NDT professional, walking through such a show offers a glimpse into the future, a future where testing could be seamlessly integrated within manufacturing systems. On this basis, it was a pleasure and a privilege to have attended such an event.”

BINDT would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to visit its stand, share ideas and learn more about what the Institute has to offer.

Looking ahead, next year’s Advanced Engineering event promises to be even more exciting as it joins forces with the UK Metals Expo, a development that brings together two complementary sectors highly relevant to NDT. This collaboration will provide an even greater platform for networking, innovation and knowledge sharing across the materials, testing and manufacturing industries.
