Midas engineers install combined UT system in Australia

09/07/2009

Engineers from Midas-NDT have installed a combined immersion and jet probe (CIJP) inspection system at a composite component manufacturing facility in Perth, Western Australia. The CIJP is a general purpose ultrasonic inspection system designed for customers who require both immersion pulse echo and water-jet through-transmission inspection capabilities.

The system, equipped with the latest state-of-the-art ultrasonics, electronics hardware and software was delivered, installed and commissioned as part of a turnkey operation with full training given to both operation and maintenance staff.

The system carries out conventional immersion inspection utilising an immersion manipulator with the component located above a glass reflector plate mounted on a levelling table (double through-transmission technique).

The immersion manipulators can be quickly and easily removed to allow through-transmission inspection to be carried out by mounting the component on support rails through the centre of the system jet probe aperture.

The system is the fourth system installed by Midas-NDT engineers in Australasia with further systems in Sydney, Auckland and Christchurch.
