Testia expands international operations with Airbus Helicopters

27/07/2026

Testia has announced the successful win of a major call for tender from Airbus Helicopters. Building upon the successful execution of previous inspection projects starting from 2019, this extensive new contract highlights the company’s capability to provide top-tier non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection services at an international level, with operations seamlessly integrated across key sites in France, Germany and Spain.

Testia’s dedicated team in Paris, France, performs critical composite parts inspections, such as composite blades, with ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), computed tomography (CT) and infrared thermography (IRT).

Testia has announced a major contract to provide NDT and inspection services to Airbus Helicopters

Operations in Marignane, France, cover both critical NDT work on final assembly lines (FALs) and critical parts manufacture and maintenance for helicopters, including UT, penetrant testing (PT), eddy current testing (ET) and immersion UT for critical transmission tube components.

At operations in Friedberg, Germany, the team inspects high-performance carbon fibre composite structures for several helicopter types, including the Airbus H135, H145, H160 and NH90.

This encompasses phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) on 2000 to 3000 structural components annually across all four helicopter programmes, such as cockpits and cabin sections, tail and aft structures and internal frames and cabin roofs.

At the facility on the Airbus site in Ottobrunn, Germany, the scope of work focuses exclusively on advanced CT inspection services.

Ensuring precise evaluations and reliable inspection results in accordance with the rigorous standards of the aerospace industry, Testia’s qualified team conducts specialised inspections on latch shafts and drive shafts.

Testia supports the plant in Albacete, Spain, on various operations, including: manufacturing, where it is supporting the final assembly line across all helicopter programmes, including the Airbus NH90, H125, H135 and H145, using UT and ET; maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) to support the shop floor and working party bases utilising UT, ET, PT and magnetic testing (MT); and Level 3 UT technical services.

While this contract is a testament to Airbus Helicopters’ continued confidence in Testia’s inspection expertise and operational capabilities, it also reaffirms the company’s position as a trusted partner to ensure the structural integrity of the next generation of aircraft.
