NDT Technician brings over 28 years of industry experience to TWI Training

13/06/2011

TWI welcomes the addition of Graeme Stothart to its NDT training team. Graeme brings with him over 28 years’ experience in the power generation and petrochemical industries worldwide.

In the power generation sector, he specialised in UT of austenitic steels, carrying out inspections on new and in-service stainless steel welds.

In late 2000, working as part of an inspection integrity team, he carried out on-site audits of contract technicians, assessing work quality and verifying the location and positions of defects found utilising ultrasonic pulse-echo techniques, working alongside the phased array and TOFD inspectors.

Graeme joined TWI in October 2010 and underwent a demanding six-month training programme to gain the skills and competence required to deliver TWI’s internationally recognised training courses. He is now approved to teach and invigilate in three NDT methods and also recently achieved a CSWIP Basic Level 3 qualification in preparation for his main method exams.

Graeme told NDT News: “This is a totally new chapter in my working life; training and teaching a new generation of NDT technicians to a high standard will be both extremely challenging yet very satisfying.”

The feedback received from candidates taught by Graeme is excellent, with one of them saying: “Active interaction, questions clearly answered, a relaxed atmosphere for training and plenty of time for practical session work, with some of the best course notes I have received, a good standard of quality. Very highly recommended to other friends.”
