Online webinar to launch engineering ethics audit report and profession response
15/06/2023
Last year, ‘Engineering Ethics: Maintaining society’s trust in the engineering profession’ was published by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng). One of the actions from that document was to produce an audit of engineering ethical practice in the UK. This audit will be published on 14 June 2023, together with the response from the profession.
The audit asked engineers and technicians, companies and professional bodies about a whole range of indicators of ethical practice, about their priorities for ethical behaviour and also about areas where they were less confident. The audit is entirely independent and pulls no punches in identifying the topics and behaviours that need attention. The profession response addresses the findings of the audit, with some clear actions required to address the areas of concern.
Both the audit and the profession response will be launched at an online webinar taking place at 12.30 pm on
14 June 2023 and interested parties can register their interest in attending the launch via the link below. There will be a panel discussion on the findings of the audit and how the profession intends to respond, as well as a Q&A session for attendees.
The event is open to all and interest in attending can be registered on the RAEng events page at: https://raeng.org.uk/events/2023/june/launch-of-the-engineering-ethics-audit-report
More information on the RAEng’s previous work on ethics is available on its website.
