AGR takes knowledge to the people

18/05/2007

AGR Field Operations, 'Ultrasonic Technologies' division, based in Winsford, Cheshire, has for the past twelve months been following a policy of 'taking knowledge to the people' by participating in seminars and open days in various locations around the world.

During March, the Institut Químic De Sarrià (IQS) in Barcelona, one of the most prestigious universities in Spain, w
as the venue for an exciting gathering of representatives from local NDT companies and industries interested in innovative inspection technologies and products. The 'Ultrasonic Technologies' division delivered technical and sales presentations attended by more than 100 delegates representing 48 different organisations.

Organised by Setelisonic, a leading Spanish NDT solution provider and distributor of AGR's range of advanced ultrasonic systems and other NDT products, the three-day seminar was successful beyond expectation. Each of Setelisonic's suppliers were allocated a day to showcase their products and technological specialities. The first day was dedicated to AGR and Mark Nel presented talks on time-of-flight diffraction (ToFD), ultrasonic phased array and the various products manufactured by AGR. Jackie Berry, Sales Manager for 'Ultrasonic Technologies', was on hand to answer any commercial questions.

"The feedback from the seminar was overwhelmingly positive. Many delegates brought samples that were tested by NDT experts. This meant that seminars were not only theoretical, the practical aspect was also really useful", commented Gerard Rafart, Sales Manager at Setelisonic.

There was much interest in AGR's newly released TD Handy-Scan system. Following the seminar, AGR and Setelisonic are currently in discussions with several companies in different industry sectors for the supply of systems throughout Spain. The TD Handy-Scan bridges the gap between the powerful TD Focus-Scan – with its multi-featured design – and the growing demand for simple, inexpensive and highly portable phased array/ToFD instruments for routine field work.

One delegate commented: "The introduction of a system that is capable of collecting phased array and ToFD data simultaneously and with all the analysis tools present as well is very interesting to my company in Spain and other offices in neighbouring countries."

AGR's belief in the Spanish market and the strong local support from Setelisonic will, it is felt, sustain a robust business in the region.
