TUV Product Service slashes test report lead time to 48 h

Preparation and delivery of type-approval test reports and certificates have been slashed to 48 h by compliance solutions provider TÜV Product Service"Industry standard response times mean businesses often wait weeks or months for reports, which can cause costly delays in getting products to market," said TÜV director David Wilson. "We have achieved a two-day turn-around by transforming testing and reporting capabilities through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Bath University."
Involving two associates from Bath University, the partnership programme has re-aligned the company's core business processes, splitting the workflow to meet the disparate needs of customers in the aerospace, defence and telecommunications markets.
Major efficiency improvements in processes and work practices mean more time is freed up for focused, uninterrupted test programmes, enabling faster throughput and shorter lead times. The company has also introduced state-of-the-art computer-based applications, which have brought test scheduling, administration and reporting to unprecedented levels of responsiveness, speed, accuracy and efficiency. "By eliminating processes that add no value, using the latest technology and changing the way engineers do their work, we have seen dramatic improvements, which we have passed on to our customers through lower prices and shorter lead times," added Wilson.
TÜV also offers consultancy services, which complement the testing service and can save customers additional time in completing their test programmes. TÜV can advise on the test specifications required for products to gain access to their target markets, and can also write related test procedures.
The company's base in Fareham, Hampshire, provides a unique combination of facilities and services on a single site.
