23/05/2011

Remote visual inspection specialist Inspectahire has announced the appointment of a key member of staff who will oversee the firm’s expansion in Australia.

The Aberdeen-based company, a leading provider of inspection services to oil and gas companies worldwide, has appointed Ben Shand as Business Development Manager for the Australian region.

Based in Brisbane, Ben has rejoined Inspectahire after leaving the company to emigrate to Australia last year. A graduate of Robert Gordon University, Ben worked for Inspectahire as an inspection technician for over eight years, leading operational teams on jobs in Central America, Africa and the Middle East, as well as offshore in the North Sea oil and gas sector.

The appointment of Inspectahire’s first overseas business development manager comes after the company identified huge potential in the Australian market for its remote visual inspection services.

Cailean Forrester, Inspectahire Managing Director, said: “It is great to welcome Ben back into the team and his appointment will help us to further drive our expansion in Australia. The Australian market has many exciting opportunities for us, particularly the oil and gas and mining sectors, and we have already had strong interest from companies operating in these industries.

“Increased focus is being placed on safety and the environment and, as a result, maintaining asset integrity in the oil and gas industry is becoming more important. Remote visual inspection technology can play an integral role in detecting and maintaining potential issues.

“Ben’s operational experience will be invaluable as we build our presence in Australia and it will help to identify cost-effective inspection solutions which can save clients’ time and money.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Shand said: “I’m very excited to be rejoining Inspectahire and taking on a role which will lead the company’s expansion in Australia. Visual inspection services, one of our core business assets, are vastly undervalued and underused commodities in Australian industry and I look forward to working with industry to highlight the benefits to them.”
