Success for the NDT Village at Offshore Europe

07/11/2011

The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) took an umbrella-type stand at the Offshore Europe Exhibition, held in Aberdeen at the beginning of September, to provide a focus on the NDT sector and demonstrate its importance in this key sector of industry.

A proposal had been put forward for the Institute to secure a large floor area that could then be sub-divided into a number of discrete stands, which would be offered to Associate Members. The scheme was approved and the project team reserved 63 m2, which was then sub-let to eleven Associate Members: A V Technology Ltd;
Johnson & Allen Ltd; Cygnus Instruments Ltd; Mistras Group; Doosan Babcock Ltd; RSL NDT Ltd; Sonatest Ltd; Innospection Ltd; TesTex NDT Ltd; TSC Inspection Systems; and Fidgeon Ltd. BINDT was also in attendance, providing support to the Associate Members.

From an NDT point of view
, the exhibition was a complete success. The focus on NDT attracted numerous visitors, many new contacts were established and follow-up meetings were arranged. To add a little spice to the proceedings, a business card draw for a digital camera was arranged, and at Materials Testing 2011 in Telford during the following week, Corinna Cuciureanu from Sonatest Ltd and Roger Lyon from BINDT conducted the draw.

The lucky winner was Alan Grieve, an NDT Engineer at FMC Technologies Ltd.

As a result of the success of the 2011 Offshore Europe Oil & Gas conference and exhibition, the project team have booked space for the 2013 event and hope to make it even more successful.
