Pete Burrows joins Baugh & Weedon as Sales Manager

Following the acquisition of Baugh & Weedon by Mike Reilly, a programme of investment is underway to both expand the product range and to recruit for key roles within the company. Pete Burrows, formerly of GE Inspection Technologies and Staveley NDT, has been appointed as Sales Manager.
Pete started his NDT career as an apprentice at Dowty Aerospace in 1985, working in various positions within the NDT department and culminating in becoming Company Level 3 for the propellers business in 1993. Pete left Dowty in 1995 and joined Staveley NDT as an Area Sales Engineer. Pete was responsible for sales of eddy current, ultrasonic and bond testing instrumentation, with a particular focus on the aerospace sector. In 2005, Pete was hired by GE Inspection Technologies, where he was an Area Sales Manager until 2007, when he was promoted to Applications Leader for the UK. As Applications Leader, Pete has produced many solutions for a wide range of customers in all industry sectors, encompassing many different materials and NDT methods. Pete is a long-standing member of the West of England Branch of BINDT, where he is currently Vice Chairman.
Following Pete’s appointment, he told NDT News: “I am delighted to be joining Mike and the team at Baugh & Weedon. Together we have a fantastic opportunity to build on the solid base established over the last 45 years. When I started in NDT, Baugh & Weedon was at the forefront of ultrasonic instrumentation and I’m particularly looking forward to the regeneration of the ultrasonic product lines and the introduction of the new eddy current instruments to complement the already established PT and MT products.”
Mike Reilly, Executive Chairman, said: “Even before signing the contract to purchase Baugh & Weedon, I had identified Pete as my preferred candidate for the crucial role of Sales Manager in the expanded organisation. I have known Pete for almost 20 years and have tremendous respect for the breadth of his NDT knowledge and in-depth understanding of applications across many industry sectors.
“I have no doubt that Pete will contribute greatly to the rapid expansion planned at Baugh & Weedon. The core business has already grown significantly in the last 18 months and we plan further expansion of the core product range in MT and PT systems, plus the introduction of a full range of MT/PT accessories and a number of new instruments in the eddy current and ultrasonic product ranges.”
