IMechE Fife NDT celebrates first anniversary

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) established IMechE Fife NDT in 2021 to support Scotland and the North of England in the provision of NDT, corrosion and coatings training, examinations and Level 3 consultancy services and 19 July marked its one-year anniversary.
IMechE Fife NDT encompasses the strong professional and ethical values of IMechE, reflected in the level of professionalism and high-quality service provided. 
The experienced and friendly team has consistently supported NDT and coatings professionals attending the school to help them gain the skills required to perform thorough and competent inspections. This has enabled IMechE Fife NDT to become the go-to training school for technicians and organisations such as Glacier, Technip FMC and Oceaneering in a relatively short period of time.
Since opening the facility in July 2021, IMechE Fife NDT has been busy expanding both the team and service offering.
The size of the team has doubled and now consists of four full-time technical staff and two administrative support staff and the NDT course offering has also expanded to include advanced phased array ultrasonic testing and time-of-flight diffraction courses, in addition to visual testing, magnetic testing, penetrant testing, weld inspection and ultrasonic testing (3.1/3.2/3.7/3.8/3.9).
Also added to the capability is providing Level 3 Consultancy Services in the Scottish region.
Coatings and corrosion training accredited by the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) have been introduced, including the Industrial Coatings Applicator Training Scheme (ICATS), Protective Coating Inspector, Insulation Inspector and Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Epoxy Coatings Inspector.
