Verret Marine acquires SailPlan

Verret Marine has acquired the technology and assets of SailPlan, a maritime monitoring platform originally developed for cruise, naval and commercial fleet applications. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The monitoring platform developed by SailPlan captures and analyses high-frequency machinery and operational data from vessels at sea, with deployments that have included cruise line operators, US Navy programmes and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of yacht exhausts. Under Verret Marine΄s ownership, the technology will be focused on predictive maintenance and machinery monitoring use cases across the offshore, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and broader commercial marine sectors.
“The hardest problem in marine operations is not getting data off a vessel, it is turning that data into a decision a chief engineer or port engineer can act on before something breaks,” said Chad Verret, President of Verret Marine. “I have spent four decades in this industry watching unplanned downtime eat budgets and schedules. SailPlan’s team built something that works in the harshest operating environments we have and I am not willing to let that capability sit on a shelf. We acquired it because the technology deserves to keep running.”
Chad founded the firm in 2023 following 14 years as Executive Vice President at Harvey Gulf International Marine and President of Q-LNG Transport. He previously served as Chair of the Board of the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel and was a driver of landmark projects, including the Harvey Deep-Sea project, the first US-flagged LNG-fuelled multi-purpose support vehicle (MPSV) and the Q-LNG 4000, the first US offshore LNG bunkering articulated tug and barge. Verret Marine also operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with UK-based Cryosafe Services Ltd for cryogenic marine and terminal projects.
Verret Marine will evaluate integration paths for the platform across its consulting engagements and partner network in the months ahead. No service disruption is expected for existing SailPlan deployments under the transition.
