Baugh & Weedon has introduced Rizwan (Riz) Latif to its team as a Software Development Engineer.

Riz’s first contact with the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry was during a three-month placement at Sonatest, while completing his masters degree at the University of Central Lancashire in 2000. For his masters, Riz fully wrote the transducer testing application, SonaCert. Riz stayed at Sonatest for the following seven years, where he built on his software skills, combining them with NDT technology.

During his time at Sonatest, Riz also understudied some of the senior software engineers on the embedded side of software engineering.

Riz then moved out of NDT for some time and joined Pace, in Saltaire, a world leader in technologies, products and services for the PayTV and broadband industries. As well as working in the test department as a Software Engineer, Riz also worked in the Network Interface Group (NIG) software team, which provides highly-critical software support to the rest of the NIG group, as well as numerous Pace teams across four continents, while collaborating with silicon vendors on design, debugging and the integration of their drivers.

Baugh & Weedon has since recruited Riz to support its Technical Manager, Noel, and provide cutting-edge software engineering on new projects and products.

Mike Reilly, CEO at Baugh & Weedon, said: “Having recruited and worked with Rizwan for several years during my time at Sonatest, I was delighted that the planets aligned in such a way that we were able to hire Rizwan to expand the Baugh & Weedon Product Development Team. Not only will this boost the development of additional products for the company, but in time we expect that Rizwan will assist in supporting key customers for our magnetic particle inspection benches.”
