Occupational radiation protection survey

As part of the implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Occupational Radiation Protection Programme and in response to the IAEA General Conference Resolution to strengthen the safety of workers in industrial radiography (IR), the IAEA has launched a survey to determine the best course of action to improve the ISEMIR-IR system and to meet the needs of users such as non-destructive testing (NDT) service providers.

The Information System on Occupational Exposure in Medicine, Industry and Research focusing on industrial radiography (ISEMIR-IR) is a tool for NDT service providers to optimise radiation protection.

It is a web-based system developed and operated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for regular data collection and analysis of occupational doses for individuals working in industrial radiography. This information is then used to improve occupational radiation protection of workers. The tool also helps IR facilities to benchmark their arrangements in radiation protection and safety.

All NDT service providers that employ industrial radiography are encouraged to complete a questionnaire, which can be downloaded from the BINDT website at: SIG_Annex_B_Questionnaire_companies_EN

Completed questionnaires can be sent by the responsible person directly to ISEMIR at contact-point@iaea.org until 21 December 2020.
