Inspection Engineer

• Inspection and written schemes: prepare and review written schemes of examination (WSEs)
• Non-destructive testing (NDT): perform basic NDT techniques (ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and dye penetrant inspection (DPI))
• Reporting and repairs: produce clear inspection reports, including photographs, assessments of deterioration and sentencing of defects
• Engineering support: participate in risk-based inspection (RBI) studies
• Coordinate third-party NDT providers for advanced or specialised requirements
• Review design calculations and coordinate repairs where needed
• Provide technical support to clients, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  
  

Key requirements:

• Education: Higher National Certificate (HNC)/degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). This is an essential requirement
• United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) RG2: In-service inspection of pressure systems. This is an essential requirement
• Experience: a minimum of five years in engineering disciplines, particularly in the in-service inspection of pressure systems
• Preferred expertise: background in mechanical engineering within the chemical or oil & gas sectors is desirable
• Additional experience: previous management experience is a bonus.
