A market leader within the aerospace sector that provides design and manufacture of high-specification products and services for engineering solutions is seeking a Quality Engineer to work within its quality team. 

The company comprises high-temperature/thermal engineering solutions for aerospace, motorsport, marine defence, nuclear and oil & gas applications, producing a wide range of stainless steel and titanium products. 

The role:
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the oversight of all operations throughout the manufacturing process that have an effect on product quality.

The successful candidate will be tasked with developing policies, procedures and methods to improve the quality of products, materials used, components or operations and also establishing and implementing quality standards for lifecycle, documentation, development methods, testing and maintenance.

Responsibilities:
  • Collate and present statistics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Quality Manager
  • Support the Quality Manager by taking an active part in regulatory and customer audits 
  • Be capable of becoming an approved signatory for release certificates of conformity
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers at all levels to resolve quality-related issues
  • Support engineering and operations in the generation and approval of process documentation 
  • Generate and sign-off quality documentation 
  • Compile and perform measurement techniques using company coordinate measuring machines and conventional metrology equipment to the level of AS9102 
  • Host customer and regulatory source inspectors 
  • Create standard operating procedures and internal quality procedures directly relating to customer and regulatory compliance
  • Assist the Central Technical Services Department in conducting internal audits 
  • Assist in the preparation of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation
  • Assist in the training and development of operator and final view inspectors 
  • Take part in and run root cause and corrective action investigations using techniques such as 8D, fishbone diagrams, 5 whys, etc
  • Attend other company sites on occasion or attend residential training courses as required by the company. 
Experience/skills required:
  • An understanding of AS 9100, ISO 9001, AS 9102 and AS 13000
  • Competent with managing timescales
  • Comfortable to host customer and regulatory source inspectors when required
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
Desired qualifications:
  • Qualified by experience
  • Educated to HNC/HND/degree level
  • Membership of an AOQG recognised institution such as ICQA an advantage.
