Engineering Council Registrant Award – EngTech

Award criteria

Purpose: To recognise an outstanding candidate at the Professional Review Interview (PRI) who has gone on to be registered with the Engineering Council (EC) at EngTech level. 
 
Eligibility: Any Institute member demonstrating very strong competencies in most areas at the relevant level for the registration category. They must be operating at the highest level of responsibility and decision-making appropriate for their role. The candidate must be registered with the EC through BINDT at EngTech level within the year of consideration.

Details of the award: £200 cash, an invitation to the NDT or CM Annual Conference Dinner with one night’s accommodation, a framed certificate signed by the President and the Chief Executive Officer and a personalised letter from the President.  

Frequency: It is anticipated that one award will be made annually providing suitable nominations are made by the Engineering Council Working Group (ECWG).

Nomination arrangements: ECWG will consider the top three PRI scores and conduct an internal vote to select a nominee. Nominations for the award will be reviewed by the Croxson Committee and recommended for ratification by Council.
 
Awarding arrangements: The award will be made at the Annual Conference Dinner by the President.

Winners

2025/2026 winner: Joshua Peacock

The Engineering Council Registrant Award – EngTech for 2025/2026 has been won by Joshua Peacock.

Joshua’s career in non-destructive testing (NDT) began over 14 years ago as a trainee NDT Technician, working under an ASNT certification scheme.

He joined a globally recognised NDT organisation servicing the oil & gas sector, where he spent four and a half years working on a rotational basis in Ghana, West Africa.

During this time, he gained extensive experience working on both subsea and topside fabrications for major international clients.

This provided him with a strong technical foundation in NDT techniques, fabrication inspection and offshore operations.

Following the completion of his apprenticeship, Joshua achieved PCN certifications in ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant inspection and welding inspection.

hese qualifications supported his progression into the North Sea oil & gas sector, where he continued to expand his technical knowledge and practical inspection experience.

To complement his NDT qualifications and broaden his capabilities, Joshua obtained rope access certification and continues to hold a Level II qualification.

This has enabled his to carry out inspection and NDT activities in challenging and difficult-to-access environments, both onshore and offshore.

Joshua subsequently gained a Level II Plant Inspector qualification from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), along with EngTech professional registration, which supported his progression into the role of Offshore Inspection Engineer.

This career development has allowed him to broaden his knowledge beyond NDT and develop a greater understanding of asset integrity, inspection management, engineering requirements and offshore operations.

Looking ahead, Joshua’s next career goals are to achieve API 570 and API 510 certification.

These qualifications will allow him to further expand his technical knowledge, strengthen his competency within inspection and asset integrity and continue progressing his career within the oil & gas industry.

Joshua’s aim is to continue developing professionally while building on his extensive NDT and inspection experience, with a strong focus on technical competence, safety, asset integrity and continuous career development.
