The East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) and adjacent Orchard Hotel is set in 330 acres of the University of Nottingham's landscaped parkland.
With excellent transport links by road, rail and air, the EMCC and Orchard Hotel benefit from a great central location; an ideal venue for the 55th Annual British Conference of Non-Destructive Testing, taking place from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 September 2016.
The venue is located only two miles from
Nottingham city centre with access to Midland Mainline Rail Services,
four miles from the main M1 motorway network and ten miles from East
Midlands Airport. Nottingham’s pedestrianised streets and tram system
make it easy to explore the surrounding area.Across the city you will find leading art galleries such as the Nottingham Contemporary, the Harley Gallery and Patchings Art Centre plus distinctive buildings designed by Victorian architect Watson Fothergill. Nottingham Castle is a popular attraction for visitors to the city due to its links with the infamous Robin Hood. The Brewhouse Yard Museum (Museum of Nottingham Life) and the Museum of Costume and Textiles are also close by. Part of Nottingham's expansive cave network is open to the public through the City of Caves attraction and the Galleries of Justice Museum (also known as the Shire Hall), housed in what was once a fully functioning Victorian courtroom, Gaol and Police Station, is also a popular attraction located on High Pavement in the Lace Market area of Nottingham. There are also many notable churches within the city centre including the Medieval St Mary's Church, located at the heart of the Lace Market and the Roman Catholic Nottingham Cathedral.
Directions By Car
Leave the M1 motorway at junction 25 and follow the A52 signposted to Nottingham. After approximately 4.4 miles turn right at the roundabout (Toby Carvery) onto the A6464 Woodside Road. Turn left at the next roundabout to enter the University of Nottingham's West Entrance. The East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) is situated on Beeston Road, which is the main loop road through the campus. For satellite navigations systems please use postcode NG7 2QL.
By Rail
The nearest stations to the EMCC are Beeston Station and Nottingham. There are over 30 direct trains that travel between St Pancras and Nottingham on a daily basis. By Tram

By Air
From East Midlands Airport, the EMCC is just 14 miles away via the M1 North leaving at junction 25 and following the A52. There is also the regular Skylink Nottingham bus, leaving directly from the airport directed to Broad Marsh Bus Station. Alight at Beeston, which is the stop for the main university campus, a few minutes walk from the entrance to the EMCC.
Additional Information for visitors
Nottingham is currently undergoing the second phase of a transformation in its public transport network to extend the tram to the south and southwest of the city, including an area near to the university campus. Once finished, the extended tram network in Nottingham will provide a service to 23 million passengers a year.
