Materials Testing Exhibition

Next month marks the return of the long-awaited ‘in-person’ Materials Testing Exhibition, which will be held from
6-8 September at the International Centre, Telford, UK. I am extremely pleased to say that we will be holding a special section at the event dedicated to NDT apprenticeships and early careers.

On Thursday 8 September, apprentices will be welcome to attend for FREE to meet other NDT apprentices, hear from current and past apprentices on their stories and career pathways, meet employers and take a tour of the exhibition to see all of the latest equipment and industry trends. All apprentices will receive a free lunch and a BINDT goodie bag to round off the day.

The apprenticeship section of Materials Testing is also looking to welcome school, college and university students in an attempt to increase the awareness of NDT across the next generation. There is still a massive skills gap within the NDT industry and hopefully this event will help to generate a little more awareness of what our NDT industry is all about and the career opportunities that it has to offer. If anyone would like their local school or college to attend, please email: samcunningham@skillstraininguk.com to find out more.

The source activity in the UK is generally identified in curies (Ci).
The activity is used by the radiographer to calculate exposure times using an exposure calculator; the source activity for a certain date is detailed on a decay chart supplied with the isotope.
