North Star Imaging UK and Instron to hold Open Day
18/09/2015
North Star Imaging (NSI) UK recently opened its first X-ray and computed tomography (CT) demonstration and inspection services laboratory in High Wycombe, UK. Parties interested in digital X-ray and CT will have the opportunity to see the facilities and to test their samples on North Star Imaging’s X5000 CT system during the Open Day on Wednesday 23 September 2015.The new facility offers advice and support for existing and new customers to develop application-specific solutions and supply inspection services. Typical inspection service requests are for internal measurements, 3D CAD comparisons, void and/or porosity analysis, surface reconstructions for reverse engineering, finite element analysis and failure analysis. The laboratory, based in sister company Instron’s European headquarters, houses NSI’s most versatile system, the X5000 series, capable of digital radiography and computed tomography with a scanning envelope of 0.8 m × 1.2 m.
NSI has nearly 30 years of experience in NDT and manufactures 2D digital radiography and 3D computed tomography equipment, along with the development of software used for its systems. The company has a wide product portfolio that allows users to increase the size of computed tomography scans and increase resolution.
Computed tomography, unlike conventional X-ray, can take cross-sectional images and provides a three-dimensional image of both the inside and outside of a component.
The Open Day will not only allow interested parties the chance to see North Star Imaging’s demonstration lab and live demonstrations of the X5000 CT system, but visitors will also learn about North Star’s product range and take a tour of Instron’s factory and demonstration laboratory.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided and there will be a prize draw for a chance to win NSI/Instron merchandise, free sample scans and, for one lucky winner, an Apple Watch!
