TWI’s advanced UT lecturer returns to Québec City

29/09/2017

Following great success at the start of 2017, Advanced Ultrasonics Lecturer Neil Harrap returned to Québec City (home of phased array ultrasonic testing or PAUT) to deliver further PAUT blended learning for one of its advanced NDT customers and to support TWI Canada at the CINDE Conference and Exhibition.

Recognising the popularity of the new blended learning option for PAUT and other techniques, Richard Rheaume from PhaseX presented a joint TWI/PhaseX paper at the conference. The paper highlighted the human factors of the training, looking at evidence gathered over the past 24 months to establish the impact of the shift to this medium as experienced by candidates and lecturers – an interesting and positive read that was well received by conference delegates.

Neil manned the exhibition stand at CINDE alongside Agata Surowiec, Plant Integrity Business Development Manager for North America and Reza Arjmand, TWI Canada Manager, who said: “Customers and suppliers were pleasantly surprised to see TWI established in Canada and able to provide its world-renowned services on its doorstep. [There was] significant interest also in the fact that we will be offering globally recognised certification, as well as in-country schemes.”

TWI Canada has established a good advanced NDT customer base since opening its office in downtown Calgary earlier this year and has had significant success with PAUT blended learning.

Courses, including PAUT, TOFD and Level 3 Practitioner/PAUT are already planned for October and will run in the Calgary facility. TWI will also release training dates for courses running during the autumn in the Quebec region.
