Eolmed floating offshore wind project approaches final commissioning stage

Strainstall, part of BES Group, is incredibly proud to have played a major role in supporting the pioneering Eolmed renewable energy development located in La Port Nouvelle, France.Since the project began at the end of 2022, the Eolmed floating wind turbine project has been an incredible journey and is now approaching the final commissioning phase, planned for March/April 2026. The Strainstrall team designed and developed the full structural monitoring system, including all associated software, to assist in the turbine design and ensure long-term performance and safety.

Over the last two years, Paul Slattery, the company’s dedicated Commissioning Engineer, has travelled regularly to the South of France, working both onshore and offshore to oversee the installation, commissioning and testing of all Strainstall-supplied equipment.
This includes managing the integration of major components such as its custom load pins, which have now been successfully installed and tested on the platform. Seeing the first completed floating turbine being towed out for offshore commissioning was a major milestone and a proud moment for everyone involved.
