ASNT delegates visit WENS Technical

ASNT Chairman Dr Terry Clausing and Executive Director Arny Bereson travelled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the first 2016 ASNT Section Technical Dinner Meeting, which was held on 9 February 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. WENS Managing Director Sajeesh Kumar Babu and Technical Director Mr R Raghunathan also extended a warm welcome to the ASNT delegates to visit the WENS Technical Training Center, located in Business Bay, Dubai, UAE, on 11 February 2016. WENS Technical is approved by the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA) of UAE to provide occupational skills training. It is an AQB for the BINDT PCN Scheme and provides training in RT, UT, MT, PT, VT and WI methods at three levels.
The meeting was aimed at achieving an interpersonal relationship with ASNT and its members to inform them about the services offered by WENS and to showcase the qualifying body’s capabilities. Along with Dr Terry Clausing and Arny Bereson, the ASNT attendees included Regional Director Marwan Basrawi. Mr R Raghunathan, from WENS, gave the opening welcome and tour, which was followed by a presentation by Ms Divya R, Centre Coordinator, who summarised the operations of the centre.
Arny Bereson mentioned that computer-based testing will be rolled out by the end of 2016 and will significantly impact AECs. ASNT delegates briefly discussed their strategic plan for this year. Marwan Basrawi laid out the motive for conducting an RTFI course at WENS, organised in collaboration with the ASNT UAE Section. Being an expert on infrared thermography, Terry Clausing gave an insight to his unique and state-of-the-art i3 infrared camera.
