TWI’s subsidiary, The Test House, has been awarded UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for its digital radiography services, becoming one of just three facilities in the UK to have this award.

11/10/2017 Singapore laboratory to provide materials testing for Changi Airport project
Element Materials Technology’s Singapore laboratory, Admaterials Technologies Pte Ltd, has agreed a contract with civil engineering firm Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure – Sembcorp Design and Construction JV to provide civil and construction materials testing for the third runway project at Singapore’s Changi Airport. Admaterials is part of Exova Group Ltd, which was recently acquired by Element to create one world-class global testing services partner.

09/10/2017 Royal Academy of Engineering calls for culture change to improve inclusion for all engineers
The Royal Academy of Engineering has called for a profession-wide culture change and regular benchmarking of progress in order to create a truly inclusive culture within the UK engineering profession. The initiative follows the publication of a unique survey of workplace cultures that shows that inclusion benefits all engineers, but there are some discrepancies between experiences of inclusiveness at work.
06/10/2017 WindTwin project aims to revolutionise wind turbine operation with digital twin technology
A consortium of engineering technology experts comprising Agility3, Brunel University London, Dashboard, ESI and TWI Ltd has now begun work on the WindTwin project following a successful proposal to Innovate UK, the Government agency that finds and drives the innovations that will grow the UK economy.

04/10/2017 Sonatest announces new initiative with Phoenix ISL
Sonatest has announced an initiative with Phoenix Inspection Systems, which has taken delivery of a veo+ phased array flaw detector. Phoenix will now be able to demonstrate the compatibility of its dynamic range of ultrasonic scanners interfacing fluently with the veo+ to produce high-resolution volumetric scans and record precise datasets.
03/10/2017 Ultrasonic sensor company Inductosense raises £1.1 million investment
Inductosense, a spin-out company from the University of Bristol, secured a funding round of £1.1 million investment from a consortium of investors in August. The consortium consists of Perivoli Innovations, the University of Bristol Enterprise Fund (managed by Parkwalk Advisors Ltd), IP Group plc, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Stephenson LP Fund and a number of angel investors.
