BP project achieves one million hour safety mark

29/04/2009

Oceaneering's team working on the BP 'Inspection and Corrosion Management' contract has collectively logged its one-millionth consecutive hour without an injury or lost-time incident.

In recognition of the achievement, Keith Miller, BP Integrity Manager Operations Division, presented Bruce Mackenzie, Oceaneering Operations Manager with the 'Eastern Hemisphere Safety Excellence Award' on behalf of Oceaneering's corporate HSE department.

"This amazing milestone is a success in itself and clear indication of a successful working partnership between BP and Oceaneering," said Bruce Mackenzie.

To further recognise the achievement that took place between April 2006 and September 2008, Oceaneering offered a £250 first prize for a competition to design a logo for embroidering onto polo shirts that will be given to all members of the project team.

The winning design (right) was submitted by Dave Law from SGA Operations.

Contract option
Further recognition of the developing working partnership comes with the announcement that BP has taken its first 2-year option on the contract through to April 2011. Under the terms of the contract, Oceaneering provides risk-based inspection plans derived from detailed corrosion assessments based on conventional and advanced NDT data. In addition, Oceaneering provides trend and defect analyses to support facility maintenance, repair plans and statutory compliance requirements.

Oceaneering has established itself at the forefront of the industry by developing an infrastructure that offers a range of Specialist Inspection Services (SIS) that individually or in combination provide innovative solutions to the increasing demand for non-invasive inspection.
