Midas-NDT scales new heights

27/11/2007

As part of a turnkey operation, Midas-NDT engineers have installed a system at Brookhouse Composites in the original mill building in Darwen and the operation involved transporting the system through a third-floor window.

The system, despite dimensions of 7000 mm x 2000 mm and weighing approximately 3000 kg, was lifted with a crane on to a ten-metre-high scaffolding platform before being carefully manoeuvred through the window and into position.

The horizontal jet probe inspection system has a scan area of 4500 mm x 1200 mm and is designed for the inspection of batches of small flat panels. The system utilises two channels of the latest Midas-NDT ultrasonic instrumentation acquiring data from two sets of jet probes. Data is captured and evaluated in the Midas-NDT Zeus v3 data acquisition and evaluation package.
