Oceanscan and Proceq Hardness Testing ‘Lunch and Learn’

10/01/2014

Oceanscan and Proceq recently joined forces at Oceanscan’s headquarters in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, to hold a first-of-its-kind ‘Hardness Testing Lunch and Learn’.

The new concept of this day was very well perceived, with participants from companies such as Total, Conoco Phillips, GE Oil and Gas, HRAI, Bilfinger and Sonomatic taking part.

Dr Stefan Frank, who has a background in physics with a doctoral degree in material science and many years’ NDT experience, hosted the session, which consisted of an introduction and general NDT overview followed by a more thorough elucidation of the advantages of NDT equipment – particularly focusing on hardness testing and the specific Proceq products. Demonstrations were also carried out in Oceanscan’s UKAS-accredited calibration lab, where the participants were shown how to apply the equipment and accessories into the working environment.

Archie Simpson, Bilfinger, gave the following feedback: “The event helped to consolidate and refresh my previous involvement in hardness testing and gave sufficient details to allow me to have meaningful technical discussions with our clients. The format, content and delivery of the material was excellent and it was a very worthwhile event.”

Proceq will be collaborating with Ray Wilson at Rigmar Training Centre to create a new hardness testing course, which will be launched early in 2014.
