The nuclear new build (NNB) surveillance Field Engineer will take responsibility for activities in the field relating to construction surveillance. The successful candidate will form part of a team, with the primary role of delivering the new engineering contract (NEC) supervisor duties described in the NEC contract. This will include ensuring that Hinkley Point C (HPC) quality needs, targets and expectations are realised.

Qualifications and skills:

  •  Broad knowledge and a wide understanding of the engineering construction industry, materials, trade methods and legal requirements
  • Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills
  • The ability to work within a high- performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives
  • Proven experience of writing diaries that are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract
  • A proven track record of working within a large construction team
  • A minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a civil/mechanical/electrical engineering qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience
  • Welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) qualifications, with PCN welding inspector/CSWIP 3.1 as a minimum
  • Ultrasonic testing (UT), phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), magnetic testing (MT), penetrant testing (PT) and other methods are all very desirable
  • Good attention to detail when checking work and materials
  • The ability to establish appropriate working relationships with the contractors
  • Persuasive and diplomatic whilst remaining independent.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the installation and erection of large civil works and mechanical or electrical
    plants
  • General understanding of the post obligations under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, along with an understanding of the document and drawing approvals processes
  • Strong communication skills in English are required and knowledge of French is an advantage
  • Experience in the use of electronic hand-held devices to capture information.

The successful candidate will be required to attend and pass the Hinkley Point C Clerk of Works course as part of the company’s upskilling training programme.

Salary:

  • PAYE: £327.95 or umbrella: £458.81.
