Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an experienced apprenticeship-trained NDT Inspector to join its team in Wolverhampton. Moog is a customer-focused company that designs complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high profile. The successful NDT Inspector will be responsible for setting up and calibrating test equipment, conducting material tests, interpreting results and generating reports on findings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Setting up and calibrating NDT equipment
  • Conducting rigorous NDT tests on structures and materials
  • Identifying structural and material defects and interpreting test results
  • Completing test reports and presenting findings
  • Carrying out own first-off inspection and checking/completing the necessary quality documentation
  • Operating within Nadcap specifications
  • Adapting Lean principles in line with Moog principles and adhering to all relevant quality standards
  • Working on own initiative and as part of a team.

Key expertise:

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing role, ideally within aerospace or a related industry
  • Proven skills within an NDT environment and the ability to provide a documented theoretical understanding of heat treatment practices
  • Relevant NDT certification
  • Three years’ progressive experience as an NDT technician
  • Flexibility to be given any appropriate task within the department that fits skill level
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and process improvement techniques
  • Competence in the application of specified NDT techniques applicable to dye penetrant, magnetic particle, visual and acid etch inspection
  • A working knowledge of piece-part manufacturing, to include inspection thereof
  • This role may require the individual to work a shift pattern and overtime when requested
  • The role requires the candidate to be self-certified and a quality stamp holder after the qualifying period.
