Case studies and theoretical developments in quantifying the value of SHM
Piotr Omenzetter, University of Aberdeen, UK, Sebastian Thöns, Danish Technical University, and Jochen Köhler, Norwegian University of Science and Technology

This structured session is organised by the EU-funded COST Action TU1402: Quantifying the Value of SHM. The aim is to bring together papers addressing one or more aspects of the challenge of demonstrating SHM value quantification via realistic case studies, including, but not to limited to:
• Demonstration of SHM value quantification in real-life, full-scale, in-situ case studies of monitoring system deployment;
• Integration of SHM into asset integrity management processes;
• Risk and reliability quantification using SHM data;
• Quantification of accuracy, precision, uncertainties and performance of SHM techniques and algorithms;
• Development of structural performance, health and condition indicators from SHM data;
• Integration of SHM data with physics-based structural and material models;
• Optimisation of SHM system design for maximising the value of information and
• Theoretical developments and enhancements underpinning the above challenges.
If your recent research addresses any of the above topics, we warmly encourage you to submit an abstract by 19 January 2018 via mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ewshm2018.
In order to ensure your abstract makes its way to the right Special session, please:
- In Step 1: Topic, title and abstract: Choose topic ‘Special session’ (note: it may not be listed alphabetically) and add ‘Special/Structured session >> Case studies and theoretical developments in quantifying the value of SHM <<' before your paper’s title
- In Step 4: Details and comments/cover Letter: Add ‘Submission for Special/Structured session >> Case studies and theoretical developments in quantifying the value of SHM <<'
- In Step 5: File upload: Add in your abstract file before the title ‘Special/Structured session >> Case studies and theoretical developments in quantifying the value of SHM <<’
Additionally, please send a copy of your abstract to Piotr at piotr.omenzetter@abdn.ac.uk.
