End-point assessment success

One of the milestones and critical aspects of an NDT apprenticeship is the end-point assessment (EPA) process. The EPA is an assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that the apprentice has learned throughout the apprenticeship, which confirms that they are occupationally competent. The EPA comprises three activities: a review of the portfolio of evidence; the project presentation followed by a question and answer (Q&A) session; and a final interview, which can double up as an Engineering Council registration Professional Review Interview (PRI). Below are the latest figures relating to the completed NDT apprenticeship EPAs:
  • NDT Engineer – One EPA conducted; Pass
  • NDT Engineering Technician – 14 EPAs conducted; all Distinctions
  • NDT Operator – Two EPAs conducted; one Distinction and one Pass
The success of all the NDT apprenticeship completions is testament to the effort that has gone into the development, delivery and support from BINDT, employers, apprenticeship and NDT training providers and the EPA assessors. Ultimately, however, the individuals that have worked hardest of all to ensure successful completions are the apprentices who are constantly working on gathering work experience, updating continuing professional development (CPD), conducting examinations, carrying out monthly assessments, working on projects and undergoing vast amounts of training!

Well done to all those who have completed their NDT apprenticeships and good luck to all those preparing for their EPAs.
