British Engineering Services opens for business

British Engineering Services has been launched to deliver premium quality engineering testing, inspection and consultancy services throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.The new company, which inherits the former RSA Engineering Inspection & Consultancy business, is backed by Inflexion private equity. It will trade as British Engineering Services in the UK and Irish Engineering Services in the Republic of Ireland.
British-owned and independent, British Engineering Services can trace its roots back to 1859. Its predecessors were the companies that developed the original engineering inspection services: National Vulcan and British Engine. Today, it has 450 highly-trained engineer surveyors and consultant engineers, strong customer support systems and a wealth of technical expertise.
The company’s new CEO, Stewart Kay, says he wants to build on this rich heritage by taking a fresh approach to delivering engineering testing, inspection and consultancy services: “This is an exciting day for us and the start of a new era. We are a new business but we have a long and illustrious history. Our strength today is built on these reassuring foundations. We have inherited the technical expertise, the knowledge, resources, accreditations and affiliations we need to deliver a premium service to our customers from day one. The new British Engineering Services brand acknowledges the company’s unique heritage by using visual elements that can be traced back to the 1870s. These came to signify strength, safety, protection, success and leadership in the engineering inspection market.

British Engineering Services will operate out of RSA’s offices on York Street in Manchester until it is ready to move into new premises during 2016. The new company is committed to maintaining its historic connection with the city, which started with Manchester-born Robert Longridge and the Steam Boiler Assurance Company in 1859.
