Laser Spot Thermography and Laser Array Spot Thermography
LST / LAST – Laser Spot Thermography and Laser Array Spot Thermography are active thermography techniques that use lasers as the heat source. The laser is fired at the component surface and the resultant heat flow from the laser spot is imaged with a thermal camera. Any surface defects that distort the heat flow can be identified in the thermal image.
LAST (also referred to as LSAT) reduces inspection time for surfaces by firing an array of laser spots simultaneously using a focused lens array.
LST / LAST are non-contacting alternatives to dye penetrant inspection.
