OPEX
Operating Experience
OPEX – Operating Experience is the gathering, review and assessment of previous experience, gained from operations of a plant or a process, with a view to avoiding repetition of mistakes or errors, identifying good practice and generating opportunities for continuous improvement. A key part of OPEX is the investigation of failures or non-conformances and the dissemination of the key lessons learnt. OPEX covers plant and process operations and health & safety. OPEX promotes an open culture in terms of reporting events, non-conformances and deviations, an essential component of a positive safety culture.
Internal OPEX covers the experiences within a plant or a company and external OPEX covers relevant events and lessons from other plants, companies and organisations, both nationally and internationally.
