PHM
Prognostics and Health Management
PHM – Prognostics and Health Management is an area of engineering that uses information obtained on the state of a component, or a group of components, to predict the future life of the component or system. This allows for early and appropriate action to be taken to avoid sudden failure. PHM links the knowledge of failure and damage mechanisms to system lifecycle management. PHM is applied in many different industries, ranging from computing and electronics, through aerospace and automotive to structural and nuclear.
PHM integrates advanced diagnostic methods, suitable for continuous online monitoring of components and systems, with modern prognostic algorithms to support proactive management for the long-term operation of plant.
