PVDF

PolyVinylidene DiFluoride

PVDFPolyVinylidene DiFluoride is a non-reactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer. PVDF is a speciality plastic used in applications where its resistance to various chemicals is of benefit. PVDF can be welded or moulded and is produced as pipes, tubes, sheets and films.

PVDF has a strong piezoelectric response and has found applications in pressure and impact sensors, strain gauges and both audio and ultrasonic transducers. The benefits of PVDF transducers are that they have a wide bandwidth and a lower acoustic impedance than piezoceramic transducers. The flexibility of PVDF allows it to be shaped to suit bespoke applications.
