Lack of Root Fusion
LRF – Lack of Root Fusion is a welding defect, where the weld material does not fuse with the parent material at the root of the weld joint. LRF on one side of a weld joint is also referred to as incomplete root fusion. LRF on both sides of a weld joint is also referred to as incomplete root penetration.
