Risk-Based Maintenance

RBMRisk-Based Maintenance is the scheduling of the maintenance activities of plant components based on the risk of failure of the component. This allows maintenance resources to be targeted where they provide the most benefit. The risk of failure is the product of the probability of failure and the consequence of failure. RBM is an alternative to periodic-based maintenance. RBM includes the application of risk-based inspection (RBI) as well as other maintenance activities.
