CPD

Continuing Professional Development

CPDContinuing Professional Development is the process of maintaining and enhancing professional skills and competence. CPD is important for everyone to support the maintenance and improvement of their skills and knowledge. CPD ensures the competence for continuing in a current role, while providing personal development in preparation for future roles
and careers.

CPD is necessary to meet the commitment that all Engineering Council registrants make to maintain and enhance their competence. CPD can be achieved through many different activities: informal on-the-job activities; formal training courses; private study; attendance at conferences and seminars; production of papers and presentations; and relevant voluntary work. Within NDT, CPD activities count towards the points necessary for the five-year renewal of PCN certificates.
